Embodied-Poetic-Narratives in our Learning Spaces

Kathryn Ann Ricketts

Last modified: 2008-07-04

Abstract

On day two of the workshops Kathryn will continue to develop her work from personal stories and artifacts to a broader theoretical base of 'Embodied - Poetic - Narrative' and both demonstrate and develop pedagogic units with the participants that use this methodology to address social justice issues that exist in our learning spaces. Participants of this workshop will find the previous workshop useful but not a requisite for participation. The explorations will be centered on the theme of place and identity using creative writing, physical and dramatic play punctuated with critical discussion to illuminate how performative collaborations can inform the social, emotional, cultural and political conditions of our learning environments. Simple props such as paper, elastic and bamboo sticks will be used as props and metaphoric prompters to the images of this work together.
