The conference committee invites proposals related to the conference theme of "Imaginative Education: Imaginative practice, imaginative inquiry". The deadline for submission is September 30, 2007
Conference Tracks
Participants are invited to submit their proposal to one of the following tracks:
1. Evaluating imaginative learning
2. Imagination in science and/or mathematics teaching
3. Imagination in arts and/or humanities
4. Imagination across the curriculum
5. Research and theory in imaginative education
6. Unexplored territories and new frontiers
Proposal Types
Full Paper - paper submissions (3000-5000 words) will be double-blind, peer-reviewed and be published in an electronic version of the proceedings. Authors are allocated 30 minutes for their presentation which includes 10 minutes for questions. Selected authors will invited to submit their paper for consideration to a special themed edition of an international journal (more details to come).
Presentation - will be reviewed by abstract (250 words) with the abstract appearing in the proceedings. Presenters are allocated 30 minutes for their presentation which includes 10 minutes for questions.
Workshop - will be reviewed by abstract (250 words) with the abstract appearing in the proceedings. Presenters are allocated 60 minutes for their workshop. Please contact the organisers if you intend to offer a workshop.
Peer-review Process
Proposals will be double-blind peer reviewed in October 2007 and judged on clarity, quality, content, originality, and relevance to track and conference theme. Please note that the Conference Committee will not consider sessions that promote commercial products and/or services. If you are unsure if your proposal falls into this category, please email the Conference Director before submitting a proposal.
Research
Work accepted for presentation at this conference was assessed as meeting the DEST definition of research. For the purposes of these specifications, research comprises:
* creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of man, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications [OEDC (2002), Frascati Manual: Proposed Standard Practice for Surveys on Research and Experimental Development, OEDC: Paris].
* any activity classified as research which is characterised by originality; it should have investigation as a primary objective and should have the potential to produce results that are sufficiently general for humanity's stock of knowledge (theoretical and/or practical) to be recognisably increased. Most higher education research work would qualify as research.
* pure basic research, strategic basic research, applied research and experimental development.
Full-papers
Full papers accepted at this conference were assessed as meeting the above criteria and the DEST characterisation for research publications as:
* substantial scholarly activity, as evidenced by discussion of the relevant literature, an awareness of the history and antecedents of work described, and provided in a format which allows a reader to trace sources of the work, including through citations and footnotes
* originality (i.e. not a compilation of existing works)
* veracity/validity through a peer validation process or by satisfying the commercial publisher processes increasing the stock of knowledge
* being in a form that enables dissemination of knowledge.

If you are submitting an abstract only, please click on the 'save and continue' button at the bottom of the pages that ask for you to upload your paper and appendix. There are three basic steps to submitting your paper to the Symposium. First, copy your paper into the provided template, second, create a login and add your personal information into the database and third, click on "AUTHOR" to be taken to step-by-step instructions for adding your proposal or paper.
The following instructions are a guide through these three items.
1. Download the MS Word template here. You are asked to use this template for your submission to assist the reviewers (Please note, abstracts can be up to 250 words). If you do not have access to MS Word, please email us at service@addon.edu.au. for alternatives.
2. Your name must only appear on the first page of your paper. Please do not include your name in the header or footer of the document or your paper cannot be consider as blind reviewed. You may include your title in the header.
3. For citations, you may use Chicago style or APA guidelines or any other academically accepted format.
4. Save your file using your last name and your proposal number - for example, smith_285.doc. Reviewers do not see the file name.
You are now ready to create your entry in the online system.
